Zkeletonz stand for optimism in the face of negativity. Everybody the same inside. No racism, sexism or prejudice. We play music and throw parties fixed firmly in the sonic space between traditional band and DJ sets. For fans of Hot Chip, Chromeo, Justice and Years & Years. We've been seen on Channel 4 Sunday Brunch and heard on BBC Introducing.
All our tracks are written by Gav and Will then produced by former house DJ Ed. And 100% self-produced, self-mixed, and self-mastered. The vibe is about fun and feeling good. On synth, Will uses his classical training to create riffs and melodies inspired by French impressionist composers like Ravel and Eastern European wartime experimentalists like Stravinsky. Ed's production style is significantly influenced by video game music including retro hand-held consoles such as Gameboy, and he'd love to compose for Nintendo one day. Frontman Gav just defies description!
All our music is postpop, our own fresh genre, which represents postpunk-style subversion of postmodern pop music. Angularity. Independent-mindedness. And taking advantage of the availability of cheap digital audio and video production gear, like the Human League and Cabaret Voltaire used to buy build-your-own synths from mail order magazines!
In 2016 we raised over £1000 organising and playing gigs for Support Act, a live music charity initiative which distributes money to Refugee Action and Road to Freedom.
