Melissa Bel has been captivating audiences and listeners her whole life with her powerful, soulful voice and captivating songwriting. After a fateful night in Vegas in October 2015, Toronto-bred Melissa Bel followed her heart and took the leap to move to rural England with her new found love. Her latest album, 'In The Light', which was released on 4th November 2016 and reached #49 on the iTunes Canada Top 200 Pop chart, tells the story of this journey.
Melissa is a seasoned performer. She has headlined her own German tour, opened sold out shows in New York and London, and toured internationally as a backing vocalist for Francesco Yates. In 2015, Melissa reached the finals of Quebec TV's The Voice (La Voix), and now performs regularly in the UK and Canada, having opened for artists like Tegan and Sara, Matthew Good, Maverick Sabre and Joey Landreth.
Her latest album, 'In the Light', reached #49 on the iTunes Canada Top 200 Pop chart and #188 on the UK equivalent and has received critical acclaim from various media outlets in Canada and the UK, including BBC Introducing, CP24 Toronto, GigSlutz, The Vinyl District and Vents Magazine. One of the album’s singles, "Big Boys Don't Cry”, was recently added to the Adult Pop stream on CBC Music, and the title track, “In the Light”, is in rotation on UK coffee giant Caffe Nero’s in-store playlist, featuring in hundreds of stores worldwide.
Acoustic guitar in tow, Melissa performs regularly as a solo act but can also perform as a duo, trio, or full band. Her extensive setlist of cover material ranges from Adele to The Beatles to Ed Sheeran to Dolly Parton, and set lists are tailored to each individual event.
