The SheJay started out as an MC (under the Moniker MC 1E) at the tender age of 17, performing alongside many big names in the UK in the 90's/2000's House & Garage scene. During this time The Shejay worked alongside the Sidewinder brand for 2 years and subsequently became known for many of their important club promotions.
A career spanning over a decade has seen The SheJay play alongside some of the UK's and the worlds best known DJs such as Steve Smooth Sutherland, DJ EZ, Seani B, DJ Scottie B, Tim Westwood, Trevor Nelson and Chris Goldfinger. To add to to that she has been the feature DJ for such notable US acts as Neyo, Lloyd, Tevin Campbell, Blackstreet, Sizzla Kalonji, Sean Kingston, M.I.M.S. and Omarion. A guest spot on the G Money and Charlene White show on BBC 1Xtra radio station was soon to follow where The Shejay was part of a live music review panel!
Even after all these years The SheJay has been a DJ, since 2012 especially new doors have been opened. From co-presenting the The Great Debate Radio Show on Secklow Sounds radio station to becoming the resident DJ for the Female DJ Takeover which took a collective of female artists on a 7 city national UK tour. In early 2013, The SheJay became the Official DJ for LinkUp TV as well as co-presenting their flag-ship radio show on Bang Radio 103.6FM which then in turn led to her being flown to The Gambia to play the International Roots Festival.
Watching The Shejay work, it is evident she has a deep love for the DJing craft and after 16+ years of dedication no one would argue against DJing and music production indeed being her calling. The SheJay represents a rapidly declining breed of disc-jockey prioritising the art form above all else.
