It would be hard to say that the last year and a half has been anything other than pivotal for FINGERTRAP, with highlights that would make many seasoned professionals weep with jealousy. In just eighteen short months, they have completed a recording session with Gavin Monaghan (The Editors, Paolo Nutini) and Chris Kimsey (The Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, INXS) at KORE Studios, London. Not to mention, travelling on a luxury sleeper tour bus from Paris to Switzerland to perform at Montreux Jazz Festival alongside Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams and Ed Sheeran, and performing on the Agora Stage at Musikmesse 2015, Frankfurt. Additionally, they have gained much success by winning two European competitions; SHURE Call for Legends and CASIO Digital Stage Piano Act.
For those new to FINGERTRAP, think rock hoops with pop sassiness, a band that channel the funk of Red Hot Chili Peppers and the ska of No Doubt with the piano melodies of Ben Folds Five. Retro however, FINGERTRAP are anything but, just one listen to infectiously catchy ‘Return If Found’ and you’ll be up, strutting your stuff to the raucous groove of ‘Until We Get There’.
FINGERTRAP are a band who don’t just urge but compel an audience to feed off the energy of live performance, as witnessed by their live shows winnings over not only the SHURE Call For Legends judges but the likes of Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Andrew Shay (Kids In Glass Houses). Airplay support includes Nation Radio Wales, Radio Cardiff, GTFM and BBC Radio Wales.
