Alfred Kitchin Scholar 2016 and recipient of the TCM Trust Silver Medal Award 2015, Emma Jane Walker is studying towards an MMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under Mikhail Kazakevich. She began her studies at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv, fuelling an interest in Jewish and Israeli music, and is embarking on a series of recitals featuring Jewish vocal music of the early 20th Century. A frequent prize winner for both performance and composition, Emma was recently awarded the ‘Prize for the Best Performance of Bach’ at the International Kabalevsky Competition, Russia. She regularly gives solo recitals, lecture recitals and concerto performances around the UK, Europe and Israel, in venues such as St Johns’ Smith Square, Old Royal Naval College Chapel and Craxton Studios, London. She will be performing Tchaikovsky’s 1st Piano Concerto with the Chamber Academy Orchestra this summer.
Emma also frequently performs as a chamber musician, collaborating with both singers and instrumentalists, and is looking forward to performing at Wigmore Hall with her piano quintet later this year.
