‘Diversion’ is a cello sextet founded in 2012 in London by a group of friends, animated by a common desire to perform together diverse musical styles. All its members come from London leading Conservatoires (Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama) and are now performing throughout Europe in professional orchestras or chamber music groups.
This ensemble offers an entertaining performance of famous pop songs, going from the big hits to the last music releases, including also the classic TV shows & movie soundtracks. Cello ensembles are quite popular nowadays but not in this kind of repertoire which makes it unique.
‘Diversion’ Cello Ensemble aims to be a bridge between the classical and the pop audience.
The name ‘Diversion’ comes from the alternative way followed by the members from their original classical background, by playing original versions of songs and soundtracks, where the tune is constantly diverted from one cello to another.
