About Us

Headliner Vision

We want to make the booking of entertainment simpler and more accessible, making the world a happier place through the performance of live music and entertainment.

Headliner Mission

We believe that artists have the right to a sustainable career through live performance and provide a platform that helps them to do this.

We believe that every event in life can be enhanced through live entertainment and performance.

We believe that artists should have more control over their career and decide which opportunities are best for them.

What we do

Launched in June 2015, Headliner is an online marketplace bringing world-class artists together with bookers and event professionals. We have made it super easy to book live entertainment, whilst helping artists earn a sustainable living doing what they do best. Our in-house team vets every artist on our site, and we have a review system as part of our continuous vetting process. We are not an agency and our technology lets artists manage their bookings from start to end, giving the power back to the performers. In addition, we work with numerous event partners and artist partners to further help create amazing events and develop our great acts.

How it all began

It all started when two of our founders, Stan and Maria, decided to get married. Having worked in the music industry for years, and successfully set up gig-site Bandwagon, they assumed it would be easy to find and book the perfect band. Unfortunately they found the process confusing, time-consuming and unreliable (you can read the full story here). To solve the problem they teamed up with our third founder, tech virtuoso Rosario, and Headliner was born!

Founders

Stan Mcleod headshot

Stan Mcleod - CEO & Co-founder

Intro: I’m a former music promoter who launched the Uk's largest gig booking platform for emerging musicians BandWagon. My mission is to help artists develop a sustainable career around live performance.

Best gig experience? Hard to choose, but probably has to be The White Stripes at The Rivoli Ballroom in 2007. Small crowd, sprung dancefloor, generator brought in to power the setup and an incredible performance made it a magical night.

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? Probably The Cramps. Certainly not the most proficient players, but I love the urgency of the music and they always looked like they were having fun.

Instrument Played? Guitar.

Maria Hayden headshot

Maria Hayden - COO & Co-founder

Intro: Ex lead singer of punk band Escapegoate and former professional actor. Maria went on to manage various bands and co-founded BandWagon with Stan Mcleod.

Best gig experience? Sooo hard! If I have to pick one it would be seeing Radiohead on the big top tour at Victoria Park in London. Touring Kid A, what an incredible experience.

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? Debbie Harry was my hero, so it would have to be Blondie!

Instrument Played? Vox and Guitar.

Rosario Garcia de Zuniga headshot

Rosario Garcia de Zuniga - CTO & Co-founder

Intro: Deeply passionate about both music and technology. As CTO of Headliner I have the opportunity to combine my two main expertise to help musicians develop their careers and make every party awesome through live entertainment.

Best gig experience? Incredibly hard to choose just one! So I’ll choose a few.. The first The National gig I went to at the Hammersmith Apollo a few years ago, Michael Nyman at The Royal Festival Hall in 2013 and La Notte della Taranta by Ludovico Einaudi at the Barbican - incredible music and performances.

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? Probably Muse or Todd Terje. Two completely different styles but equal amounts of awesome.

Instrument Played? I dabble in playing piano from time to time - planning on taking it more seriously and getting back to lessons soon!

Our Stellar Team

Chris Barr headshot

Chris Barr - Senior Software Engineer

Intro: PHP developer turned Python developer, lover of all things technological. If I’m not in front of a computer I’m probably out running.

Best gig experience? Couldn’t possibly choose 1, so here’s three! Coldplay at the Royal Albert Hall, GoGo Penguin at Village Underground and Muse at the O2 were all amazing.

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? I’d quite like to be one half of Flight of the Conchords

Instrument Played? Learnt bass and double bass when I was younger, dabble with the guitar as well.

Rebecca Lander headshot

Rebecca Lander - Booking Manager

Intro: I spent 10 years touring as a backing vocalist, singing house vocals, session work, jingles, corporate events, weddings, in the shower etc . When I moved back to London several years ago, I became a booking agent, before joining Headliner and their plight, to revolutionise the way artists do business ;)

Best gig experience? It would either have to be Sigur Rós in 2008 at FIB or Radiohead, pretty much every time I see them. Sigur Rós were particularly special on that occasion, as I was sat on the side of the stage, and you could feel the interaction between band members.

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? Grace Jones. No explanation needed.

Instrument Played? I reached Grade 8 on the piano when I was 17, but can barely play a note now, embarrassingly.

Caitlin Bahrey headshot

Caitlin Bahrey - Artist Relations & Community Manager

Intro: New York native. Creative Writing, Content Writing and Arts enthusiast. Previously, I have worked in numerous editorial and publishing positions, as well as founded an art collective that brought together artists and musicians from the New York City area. I have forever been interested in music and promoting artists in general. In my spare time I write a lot of poetry.

Best gig experience? Historically, Daft Punk at KeySpan Park in Coney Island circa 2007. Most recently Benjamin Clementine at Somerset House in London.

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? Karen O. forever and always.

Instrument Played? Let me write those lyrics! And if you’re lucky I might sing them for you, too.

The Pooch

Charlie Feathers headshot

Charlie Feathers - Chief Fluffy Officer

Intro: Originating from Wales, Charlie has been working as a CFO for the last 4.5 years. He happens to be named after a famous rockabilly singer from Memphis.

Best gig experience? Attending small, intimate gigs. The Stockwell Festival was a particular highlight!

If you could be in any band or any artist who would it be? I would have to follow in the footsteps (pawprints) of my namesake.

Instrument Played? Vox
